There are no fees for your child to attend kinder in 2023. Kinder places at Yarra Ranges are fully subsidised by the Victorian Government.
WHEN CAN MY CHILD GO TO KINDER?
Use the Victorian Government’s Starting Age Calculator to enter your child’s birth date to find out what year they can start Three- and Four-Year-Old Kindergarten. Access the calculator using the link below.
Yarra Ranges Kindergartens Inc. accepts applications for enrolments at all of its kindergartens from the time your child is born.
Enrolments are confirmed year by year once a family accepts a place offered to their child.
If a child turns five years of age during their kindergarten year, that is perfectly okay; that’s why we call it 4/5yo kinder. In fact, many children who start primary school at five going on six years, arrive with more confidence and the chance of better educational outcomes.
If a child will not turn four years of age by 30 April in the year they are to attend a funded kindergarten program, the parents must first have requested approval for early school entry for their child to attend school in the following year. You need to make this request directly to the non-government school that the child will be attending, or make the request in writing to the appropriate Departmental regional office in accordance with government school entry processes. Please be advised that many applications for early school entry are unsuccessful. Children granted early entry to kindergarten are not eligible to apply for a another year of funded kindergarten in the following year if the child does not attend school. Find out more about school age requirements and age exemptions using the link below.
A copy of the written request for early school entry must accompany the child’s application for kindergarten enrolment so that we can confirm an early enrolment. The service must sight this request and include a copy in the child’s enrolment record.
